Development in Herford
What began in 2022 as a response to a global crisis is today an indispensable social institution in Herford. Our priority is the support of all those in need and the strengthening of social cohesion.
2022: The Beginnings. Opening of the clothing store in the city center. We created a first-aid point that quickly became an anchor point for Herford citizens in need and refugees.
2022–2024: Social Anchor. Expansion into a community center. We supported low-income families, single parents, and refugees with non-bureaucratic aid: from counseling to direct support in difficult life situations.
From 2025: New Capacities. A modern logistics site and training rooms enable us to conduct integration courses and promote direct dialogue within society.
Social Center & Integration
Our center is an anchor point for citizens in need, single parents, and refugees.
Integration: Practical language counseling and active help with administrative procedures and authorities.
Neighborhood Help: Immediate provision of clothing and household items for low-income families.
Logistics
The Network: With representatives in every region of Ukraine, we ensure that every delivery – from power stations to rescue equipment – arrives exactly where it is needed most.
Massive Capacities: In 2025 alone, we successfully shipped approximately 500 tons of humanitarian aid. In doing so, we also support other volunteer organizations with coordination and the search for suitable transport capacities.
Medicine & Evacuation
From 2025, we are expanding our spectrum: In cooperation with the IMRA (International Medical Rescue Association), we are conducting specialized medical evacuations from Ukraine to Germany.
Support for Clinics: We have delivered hundreds of tons of medical equipment and devices to Ukrainian hospitals.
Our work is valued by the Herford Police and the city administration.
Our 3 mobile dental clinics ensure basic medical care on-site and have already treated over 7,000 patients.
We save lives on the front line. In close cooperation with "Be an Angel," we have evacuated over 12,000 people from high-risk combat zones.
Projects of Hope
Bread and Warmth: Our two bakeries (in the Odesa, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions) bake daily between 500 and 1,000 loaves of bread. Additionally, we have delivered over 100 generators and thousands of mobile stoves ("Bullerjan stoves").
For the Littlest Ones: We support dozens of orphanages in Ukraine and Moldova. More than 70 "Toy Rooms" have been established – protected spaces for art and play therapy that help children process traumatic experiences.
Mobility: To date, we have delivered: 17 ambulances, 2 fire engines, as well as more than 60 support and emergency vehicles.
Animal Welfare: We leave no one behind in times of need and actively support animal shelters and zoos.
Education and Craftsmanship: We provide laptops to teachers for remote learning and produce medical stretchers and bags for paramedics in our own sewing workshops.
